The National Fenestration Rating Council’s (NFRC) Senior
Manager, Communications and Marketing, Tom Herron, appeared WBAL News in
Baltimore, MD on Sunday, April 14 and on WHAG News in Hagerstown, MD on April 19 to educate
consumers about the energy performance values found on the organization’s
third-party certification label.
During the segment, Herron explained that NFRC is a nonprofit organization that
empowers consumers who are in the market for energy efficient windows, doors,
and skylights.
He pointed out that NFRC allows them to make comparisons before
making a purchase and described the role of the U-factor and the Solar Heat
Gain Coefficient (SHGC) to Mid-Atlantic viewers, noting that hot summers and
cold winters make both important factors for improving comfort and decreasing
utility bills.
"We want consumers to know they can come to us to get the unbiased, objective
information they need to make comparisons before they make a purchase,” Herron said. "Our goals
for this segment were to make our label easier to understand and to let people
know we’re here to help them when they need us.”
