NFRC Operational documents include the Bylaws, Operating Policies, and Fee Schedule. These documents are essential to the operation of NFRC, the Board of Directors, and the Committee structure.
NFRC administers several programs to ensure that the energy performance ratings found on NFRC Labels are fair, uniform, and credible. These programs include:
the residential Product Certification Program (PCP), which establishes the rules under which a fenestration manufacturer can rate and label products;
the Certification Agency Program (CAP), which establishes the rules by which our third party licensed Independent Certification and Inspection Agencies (IAs) operate;
the Laboratory Accreditation Program (LAP), which establishes rules and regulations for assuring that test and simulation labs are providing uniform ratings;
the Component Modeling Approach (CMA) PCP, which establishes the rules for issuing label certificates for commercial products;
the FenStarĀ® Certification Program, which is the accredited certification body for the ENERGY STARĀ® window, door, and skylight program; and
One of NFRC's main functions is to promulgate technical standards that establish uniform procedures for determining the various energy performance ratings, including U-factor, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), Visible Transmittance VT),
and Condensation Resistance/Condensation Index.
The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) is the trusted, independent, nonprofit certification body for the energy performance of windows, doors, and skylights. With more than 35 years of expertise, NFRC is the standard-bearer in fenestration performance certification, providing the public with objective data that helps stakeholders make informed decisions about product and building performance. NFRC certification ensures that products are tested using precise, scientifically validated methods, resulting in ratings that are fair, accurate and credible. Contact us at info@nfrc.org.
