This webinar has taken place. Please CLICK HERE to review the recording. VELUX shares their plan for the future that starts with the past. At a time when the planet is facing dual climate and nature crises, the VELUX Group has committed to becoming Lifetime Carbon Neutral by 2041 – this means taking responsibility for both past and future carbon emissions. - The VELUX Group will capture its historical carbon emissions – since its foundation in 1941 by investing in global forest and biodiversity projects developed and managed by WWF. These projects will help tackle climate change and also help halt biodiversity loss for both nature and people.
- Looking ahead, the VELUX Group will reduce its future carbon footprint by cutting the emissions of its own operations and value chain in line with the Paris Agreement, as validated by the Science Based Targets initiative. By 2030 it will be a carbon neutral company (scope 1 and 2) and have halved carbon emissions across its value chain.
No standard methodology exists today for how to calculate a historical carbon footprint. For example, valid emission factors and energy consumption data for long ago often do not exist. Therefore, the VELUX Group developed a method to calculate its historical carbon emissions. This method is based on the recognized Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard and applied to historical data. This unique methodology, including the underlying assumptions, are independently verified by Carbon Trust and reviewed by scientific experts at World Wildlife Fund. During this webinar participants will learn how to - Take responsibility for past and future carbon emissions to become Lifetime Carbon Neutral
- Estimate historical carbon emissions and develop and robust method
