FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NFRC Standards Committee Seeks New Member

Greenbelt (MD), Apr. 18, 2023 -- National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is an American National Standard Institute (ANSI) Accredited Standards Developer (ASD) and develops and administers comparative energy and related rating programs for fenestration products.

NFRC has a standing committee, designated as the “Standards Committee,” to oversee the review process. The Standards Committee must be comprised of a variety of interested stakeholders and balance must be maintained. For this reason, the Standards Committee is now in need of a new member in the User category, which includes:

  • Consumers and consumer advocacy organizations
  • Utilities and other energy service providers
  • Architects, specifiers, and design professionals
  • Builders and other construction contractors
  • Similar parties with interests in fenestration issues

The Standards Committee is responsible for implementing the consensus process required for adoption or modification of an ANSI Standard and performing such other duties as NFRC’s Board of Directors may request from time to time. In accordance with the NFRC 710: Operating Policies Manual, members of the committee are required to actively participate in the Committee’s activities, including attendance at meetings and casting ballots on matters presented to the Committee for action.

As an ANSI ASD, NFRC submits any NFRC document that NFRC wishes to become an ANSI Standard as well as any amendments or modifications it proposes, for public review and comment in accordance with the ANSI required procedures.  More information on the Standards Committee, including the application to join the committee and details on requirements and other categories, may be found on the NFRC Community website. If you wish to apply for membership on NFRC’s Standards Committee, please contact Jen Padgett at jpadgett@nfrc.org or by phoning 240-821-9515 to request an application.

Applications will be accepted through May 31, 2023.
