Product Lines are required to accurately reflect the current product construction and to be recertified every 5 years per the NFRC rules. In rare instances, NFRC may grant a waiver, or exemption
for special circumstances surrounding a product line.
|
All requests and reviews shall follow the requirements of the NFRC 7019 - PCP Extension and Waiver Process.
|
Unlike extensions, waivers shall not affect the expiration dates of product lines.
Type 1 Waivers may be requested where minor changes made to products do not alter performance ratings or add options to a product line in the CPD.

Type 1 Waiver/Exemption
Type 1 Waivers may be requested where minor changes made to products do not alter performance ratings or add options to a product line in the CPD.
|
- Shall be requested by the licensee directly from the IA responsible for the product line(s).
- May be requested where modifications do not result in a change to performance ratings or the addition of product options to product lines in the CPD.
- Shall remain in place to the end of the product line’s certification cycle, or until the product line is updated/amended/recertified to incorporate the change, whichever occurs first.
- Product lines may have only one Type 1 waiver assigned to them at any given time. This waiver may remain active until the product line is amended, recertified, expired, or retired.
- Additional changes to the product line shall require an update to the waiver. These additional changes will be incorporated into the existing waiver by the associated IA, only if the collective changes still meet the
requirements of a Type 1 waiver.
All requests and reviews shall follow the requirements of NFRC 7019 - PCP Extension and Waiver Process
All exemption requests will be evaluated based on merit and may not be granted if sufficient rationale is not provided.
If the request is denied, the product line shall be updated as per the NFRC rules before products may be labeled.
