NFRC Document Public Review from May 5 to June 19, 2023

The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) Board of Directors approved four NFRC documents which are now open for public review according to the American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI) process. The public review and comment period are scheduled to run from May 5 to June 19, 2023.

The four documents to be submitted for public review, comment, and the full ANSI consensus process are:

  • NFRC 100: Procedure for Determining Fenestration Product U-factors,
  • NFRC 200: Procedure for Determining Fenestration Product Solar Heat Gain Coefficient and Visible Transmittance at Normal Incidence,
  • NFRC 202:  Procedure for Determining Translucent Fenestration Product Visible Transmittance at Normal Incidence, and
  • NFRC 500: Procedure for Determining Fenestration Product Condensation Index Ratings.

Today at its Fall Membership Meeting, the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) acknowledged the two members who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and shown determination to move NFRC projects and priorities forward. NFRC Report Captures Potential for Energy-Efficient Commercial Windows 

With architects, builders, and manufacturers facing growing pressure to ensure that windows, doors, and skylights reduce energy use, the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) is releasing a report on the potential benefits of high-efficiency windows in commercial buildings.  

 

NFRC establishes energy-performance ratings for windows, doors, and skylights, which are referred to as fenestration. The study, funded by NFRC and, in part, the U.S. Department of Energy and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, was conducted by research firm Guidehouse, to assess the opportunities for energy-efficient commercial fenestration on a national scale.

National Campaign to Modernize Homes

The  National Fenestration Rating Council  (NFRC), which  establishes objective window, door, and skylight energy - performance ratings is excited to support  the recently announced national campaign to  modernize  and upgrade homes and commercial buildings to make the m  more energy efficient .

 

On Monday, the White House announced new programs through the Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Government Service Agency that will invest federal money in projects that aim to make buildings affordable, resilient, and energy efficient including the Initiative for Better Energy, Emissions, and Equity (E3 Initiative). The E3 Initiative includes efforts to promote the widespread use of highly efficient windows and window attachments that improve comfort and reduce building energy use.

2021 Window Market Outlook, New Administration Changes for Fenestration

After a challenging 2020 for most companies, fenestration industry analysts predict the U.S. window and door industry will see a 25 percent increase and reach $34 billion in 2021, up from $27.2 billion in 2020, according to published reports. Furthermore, fenestration market researchers said the industry remained mostly resilient throughout 2020 and are optimistic for 2021.
